MAC To The Beach Preview Launch Party Haul & Review
I was lucky enough to get an invite to the MAC To the Beach Preview Launch Party at the MAC Robson location last night. We were greeted with a few male models in swim trunks making necklaces with cord, beads, seashells and wood. In addition to the eye candy and free necklaces, cocktails and delicious snacks were made available. The store was crowded with many people crowded over the MAC To The Beach displayers.
With order list in hand, my little haul included Marine Life Highlighter, Hipness Blush and Flurry of Fun Lipglass. The packaging of each product was fairly simple in either orange or green packaging.
Marine Life Highlighter is a two-toned pink and coral powder good for both highlighting or a light cheek color. I think this is definitely the item to get due to the cute seahorse.
Hipness blush is a pinky coral in a frost finish. This is definitely a shade that I could wear every day. It compliments Joie-De-Vivre Cremeblend Blush. It is also very similar to Fleur Power blush, part of the permanent line at MAC. I've done a comparison picture for those on the fence on Hipness.
Flurry of Fun Lipglass is a sheer orangey gloss with blue and teal reflects glitter. On swatching, it jumped out at me with a capital J. It kind of reminded me of MAC Hello Kitty Nice To Be Nice, but with way more glitter. It's very sparkly and definitely one to wear for a night out.
What I skipped: Bronzers, brushes, eye shadows, lipsticks, nail lacquers and pencils. I have never been much of a bronzer fan in any format because I tend to darken easily (& relatively evenly) with very little sun. I have both the MAC 130 and 131 brushes, hence skippable for me. Check out my review of the MAC 130 Duo Fibre Brush here. Promise I'll do MAC 131 Duo Fibre Brush review as well :) Since 2 of the 5 eye shadows were permanent, this left only 3 possible eye shadows to consider. Firecracker just didn't look like an eye shadow I would ever wear while Sand & Sun left me thinking that I must have something like that in my Tarte Treasure Chest. Sweet & Punchy was pretty, but reminded me too much of Rated R from Love That Look. The nail lacquers, lipsticks, lipliners and eye liners didn't wow me over. To be honest In The Buff Nail Lacquer just made me think of being sick many years ago. The color did not appeal to me at all, so it was a pass.
That's all for now for MAC To The Beach. I'm still thinking of the limited edition eye shadows and maybe an eye liner, so perhaps I'll have an update on launch day ;)
