Black on the Low End: NYX Lake Moss Trio

With all of the trends for dark eyes and dark lips for this fall and winter, I had to share an alternative to the high end Chanel and middle ground MAC. The NYX Lake Moss Trio has been on the market for quite awhile, I purchased mine several months ago. There is a burgundy shade, a blue shade and a gold shade. I find that NYX eyeshadows do need a base for staying power. So for the swatches below, I used MAC Black Cream Color Base, MAC Blackground Paint Pot and MAC Black Greasepaint Stick. Swatches below are done wet with MAC Fix+.

From left to right: MAC Black Cream Color Base, MAC Blackground Paint Pot, MAC Black Greasepaint Stick.

Each shade is unique enough to wear together, individually or with other eye shadows. The texture is not gritty, but slightly creamy. The glitter isn't chunky, but fine and well matched (ie, it doesn't have silver glitter in all of the shadows!). They apply smoothly with some fall out. Use a base and a dense brush, such as the MAC 239 and I'm sure you'll find some love for these.

NYX eyeshadow trios retail for $9.99 CAD at Save-On Foods and PriceSmart in Canada.
